Puerto Rico Agents Welcome a New Deal

1/27/2009 - Juan Lamela (the director of the OSSN Puerto Rico Chapter) reports that two major forces in travel sales on the island – Traverus Travel Network (a U.S.-based international marketing company for the travel industry) and HB Travel Consultants (based in Puerto Rico) – signed a new agreement this month to cooperate in complying with Puerto Rico’s seller of travel laws that bind independent contractors to host agencies. Acting as a host agency, HB Travel Consultants and its retail division (Durmar Travel) will provide travel products and services for independent Traverus agents to promote and sell. The deal will allow Traverus to consolidate its position in Puerto Rico and serve as a business model for the company’s planned expansion in other Latin American countries.
